Dragonflies 14.07.17

We have had a very exciting week in Lime Class this week.

On Wednesday we watched the Year 2 play 'Maui Catches the Sun.' We thought it was fantastic and have been busy learning and practising the Haka every since. Well done Year 2!

Yesterday we had transfer day and went to our new classroom for morning. We are going to be in Beech Class and Mrs Turner and Mrs McLellan are going to be our teachers. We did lots of fun activities and had playtime on the big playground.

This afternoon we had a treat for getting ten golden pine cones on our Tidy Up Tree. We have been working really hard to work as a team at tidy up time and Miss Howells and Mrs Hyder have been very impressed.

In Literacy we read the story 'Billy's Bucket.' The story is about a little boy who asks for a bucket for his birthday. When he fills up his bucket with water and looks inside he see's lots of amazing things like a shoal of fish and a whale. We thought about what we might be able to see if we had Billy's Bucket and wrote a sentence to describe it. We thought carefully about what WOW! words we could use and made sure to use capital letters and full stops.

This weeks Learning Owl is Tom. He has been chosen for his positive attitude towards his learning. Well done Tom!

David Hockney 07.07.17

This week in Topic we have been artists. We looked at the picture 'Beach Umbrella' by David Hockney and created our own. We used wax crayons to create the sand and sea and filled in the background with watercolour paints. We then used our drawing and collage skills to create our own beach umbrellas and stuck these onto our background. They look fantastic and will be on display on Open Evening.

In Maths we revisited Subtraction. We practised counting back on the number line and recording our working as a number sentence. We made sure to start with the biggest number and use the subtraction symbol in our recording.

Today was our Whole School Picnic. We all had a packed lunch and ate our lunch together on the field. Miss Howells and Mrs Hyder ate their lunch with us too!  In the morning we had a paddle in the paddling pool and at the end of the day we had an ice lolly. It was just like going to the beach!

In Learning Through Play we have enjoyed washing the cars and bikes. We made signs and labels for the car wash and asked our friends whether they would like to bring their cars. It was 4p a wash.

This weeks Learning Owl is Zaina, She has been chosen for her 'can do' attitude towards her learning. Well done Zaina, we hope you have a lovely weekend with Hootie!
