Jack and the Beanstalk 12.05.17

This week in Maths we have been learning about sharing. We had a problem to solve, we had to share four sandwiches between three teddy bears. We thought carefully about how to cut the sandwiches and made sure they all had the same! On Wednesday Miss Howells bought some pancakes for snack but we didn't have enough. We shared them by cutting them in half. They were very yummy!

In Literacy we followed instructions to plant a bean. We thought about the order we needed to do things in and had a go and writing our own.
1. Get a pot.
2. Put some soil in the pot.
3. Make a little hole with your finger.
4. Put the seed in the hole and  cover it over.
5. Water it.
6. Put it somewhere sunny.

We planted our own beans and made a castle for it to grow to. I wonder if they will grow all the way up to the clouds?

In circle time we read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and did some philosophy. We thought about the main events and came up with some questions. We then had a vote and chose the question: How would you feel if you were Jack? Lots of us said we would feel happy because we would be rich but other of us said we would be said because stealing is the wrong thing to do and the Giant would be sad.

This weeks Learning Owl is Harry, he has been chosen for his fantastic independent work. Well done Harry, we hope you enjoy your weekend with Hootie!

In Maths next week we are going to be learning about height and length so this week for home learning we would like you to put your family in size order and draw a picture of them.

Don't forget tonight is the School Disco so we look forward to seeing lots of you back at school at 5 o'clock.

  1. Thank you for having us in this week for work shadowing. It was lovely to see all the children in their learning environment. Sam enjoyed the bean planting instructions and the philosophy. The disco was brilliant as always! Well done Harry!
